I am involved in the technical aspects like the creation of a new microservice because the architectural design and implementation tend to have consequences on the way value is derived from the product. In this case, I worked with a system architect who gave the final say about whether or not to create a new microservice (not!). I make sure not to 'dictate' or overstep my boundaries, and trust / respect the decisiosn of those with more technical expertise. But, with that said, I do view it as my responsibility to consider the pros and cons of selecting a technical solution. In the case I described, a completely new microservice was 'overkill' and not at all necessary. Once the dev. team better understood the actually simple technical requirement, they completely agreed.
